I was going to take the giant step and order some W&N Series 7 brushes today, but at the last minute, I bought Isabey 6227Z brushes instead. Larger sizes: 6, 8, 10. Of course, I ordered from CJAS (see below). Did I do right? Anyone with experience with Isabey 6227Z brushes? Below: I carefully checked on prices from Jerry's and other catalogs. Even with Jerry's various special offers, CJAS was consistently the low price leader. Nice customer service, too. Good j |

hey howard, i have not usedthe 6227z series of isabey, but i use their repique series(similar to w&n miniature) and i love them. they point consistently and i believe they are the same quality as series 7 if not better. plus it's all preference. i found on mine that the handles are lighter in your hand than series 7 miniature. i dont know how the 6227z feels, i like the feel of mine. i think you would only notice slight differences in these brushes. dont doubt your choice...and if you dont care for them then you can you always try different brands when economics allow. hope this helps-chris |

I returned the Isabey brushes. Instead, I bought the W&N Series 7 brushes. Big differences. The W&N's seemed to: 1. Hold more paint 2. Remain more firm 3. Spread a far more even wash 4. Point up to an extremely sharp point. Even the #8 brush, whose plume is nearly an inch tall, could paint a fine line. These brushes are probably 35% more expensive than the Isabey brushes. But they're worth it. At least from one night's very happy use. |
