I think the water changes the refractive index of the surface. I can't go into any detail at the moment (I'm under some deadline pressure on another project), but handprint has some good discussion on this. Google "handprint refractive index" and see what you come up with.

Anyone know why grass is greener when wet or direct me to a source which explains it?
