Aimee, Mine is a Julian, the only one made when I bought it. A freind has an MABEF which seems as well made. It has adjustable drawer partitions - maybe a plus- but the feature actually takes up a bit of drawer space - maybe a drawback. There are many now, but I've heard the ones made of beech are tougher than the ones made of elm. |

Winsor Newton makes a clever w/c easel called the Dart that will go from vertical to horizontal with ease--it is a light weight portable wood easel that is inexpensive. Great easel. |

Aimee, yes, a box easel is horizontal with the top shut (or you can open it to any angle you want) With the legs up they are a table easel. It's still the most versatile thing out there for any medium. Mine is 25 years old and going strong. |

I am wondering- is there a french easel or something similar that actually can lay horizontal? I am in real need of an easel, and if it can store my stuff, all the better. I am a beginner in WC, and i also play with acrylics a little bit and mixed media stuff. I had a project I'm working on , on the kitchen counter, resting gainst the microwave, and holding it with one hand and DROPPED it, wet paint side down of course. ewwww. Suggestions welcome! |
