Sorry I mis-quoted on the table-mount. However, either way, I shall be very circumspect about buying the self-standing model :-)

Please re-read -- I said Table Mount, not table-top. The 'underneath' of the painting-surface holder -see the catalog picture- is a mechanism for clamping to a table edge...two completely different animals. Problem is, it requires an 'overhanging' table top, which most tables don't have apparently, & it doesn't open wide enough to surround the sides. Then, there's the issue of pressure-clamping steel onto 'fine' furniture surfaces. Course, the sales description doesn't cover those points! Phooey!

Devil's in the details, as they say! <G>

Jay, this description of the table-top version may not bode well for the self-standing model (newish, I believe) that several pastel artist friends are raving about. It is very light, and what attracted me to it is its capability to swivel at 360o and act vertically and horizontally. I am a sucker for design, but only when it works.

I almost got caught up with a pochade box, on sale, at Utrecht, but I was fortunate to see it on a quick trip back East and it was duh, duh, for watercolours. No way for a palette to sit inside.

Thanks for your response.

Well, I do find tables kinda hard to elevate to a vertical plane, as a rule.....

I've had the Anderson Table Mount easel for several years (CJ's AN210)...only, it's amazing how many tables it won't clamp to! Couldn't use it in the classroom I originally bought it for -- can't use it in the classes I'm taking now! I made an adaptor so's could use it mounted on a good camera tripod I have, but it wasn't as stable as I'd like. I finally broke down & ordered the Bristol W/C unit (WNE7006119) recently - my birthday present to myself. *heh*

I have been looking at the new Anderson Easel, and
keep questioning myself about the virtue of an easel for watercolour. Presently I kinda hang on to a table--any table

Any thoughts?
